Who? Thomas Mulcair, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment & Parks

Why? Within the next few weeks, he makes the final decision on the project!

In solidarity with the community of Kanehsatake, Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement is urging all allies to participate in a coordinated phone, fax and email campaign against Niocan Inc.’s proposed niobium mine that is moments way from being developed within traditional Kanien:keha’ka territory. A loud and clear message must be sent to Mulcair, in his final hours of deliberation, that the municipality of Oka had no right to sell lands traditional to the Peoples of Kanehsatake, and the poisoning of Kanien:keha’ka land, water, animals and Peoples is clearly unacceptable to
many, and will not be tolerated. On Monday May 2nd especially, and on Thursday May 5th, let Mulcair know he will have no peace unless their is justice for the community of Kanehsatake. Refuse Niocan! Resist Environmental Racism! Reject Canadian Colonialism!

Smart Cards in Kahnasatake

HOW CAN WE PROTECT OURSELVES FROM HAVING SMART CARDS SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS

MNN. March 6, 2005. Saturday March 5th I spoke at a workshop put on by our non-native supporters in Montreal. They are concerned about the way Smart Cards are being foisted on Indigenous people. If they can do it to us, they can do it to them. “How can we fight it?, they asked. “How can we help you?”

Why don’t more non-native people support our struggle for our rights? How can they help us when they don’t know anything about us? We Indigenous people know more about our rights because we have had to defend ourselves since the newcomers arrived on our shores.

Dear Mr. Mather:

Re: Infringement of Aboriginal Title from Shell Canada coalbed methane operations in the Klappan (Tl’abane) Sacred Headwaters

I am writing to bring your attention to a very serious matter, your company’s infringement of our Aboriginal Title and Rights resulting from your ongoing exploration of drilling for coalbed methane in the Klappan-Groundhog coalfield underlying the Tl’abane Sacred Headwaters which is my family’s traditional territory and the Stikine, Skeena and Nass watershed.

RESIST 2010 !!! BOYCOTT DELTA HOTELS !!!
SATURDAY FEBURARY 12TH GATHER AT VICTORY SQUARE @ 1 PM

February 12, 2005 will mark the five-year countdown to the 2010 Olympics, which runs from February 12-28. On Saturday February 12, 2005 we will bring the struggle against the Olympics to the forefront by targeting the Delta Hotels and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) offices.

We will be marching to confront and remind people that there can be No Olympics on stolen native land as the the Secwepemc, St’at’imc, Cheam and other communities are fighting ski resort development, including hotels like Delta which is now the target of an International Boycott called for by the Secwepemc community, on unceded traditional territories.
