Sutikalh- 5 year anniversary

To all supporters;

This is a notice to inform you that our anniversary for this year is on April 30th and May 1st, at Sutikalh.  On April 30th, 2005 is a drop in day for all to come and enjoy the fresh air. On May 1st, 2005 is a planned day with a ceremony at 10:00 am, and at noon will be lunch followed by speeches of attending elders, chiefs, and open to supporters who would like to share with us, and Drumming and singing.

On Saturday March 5th at the International Women’s Day rally in Toronto, a woman was arrested by Toronto Police while selling cookies to raise money for CKLN Community Radio. Her crime: living in Canada with out Immigration status. Wendy Maxwell, also known as Nzinga, is now in jail and on hunger strike at the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton, Ontario. Her deportation date to Costa Rica has been set for this coming Monday, March 14th at 2pm.

SATURDAY FEBURARY 12TH GATHER AT VICTORY SQUARE @ 1 PM

February 12, 2005 will mark the five-year countdown to the 2010 Olympics, which runs from February 12-28. On Saturday February 12, 2005 we will bring the struggle against the Olympics to the forefront by targeting the Delta Hotels and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) offices.

We will be marching to confront and remind people that there can be No Olympics on stolen native land as the the Secwepemc, St’at’imc, Cheam and other communities are fighting ski resort development, including hotels like Delta which is now the target of an International Boycott called for by the Secwepemc community, on unceded traditional territories.

The camp will involve the participation from various community groups and organizations involved in historical and present struggle against Immigration Canada and racist border and immigration policies, while making the links to Canadian policies of corporate globalization and imperialism that result in mass displacement from lands in the Third World.

Support for Ali Reza’s Detention Review

Mr Ali Reza Monemi received a deportation order on January 7, 2005 back to Iran on Tuesday January 11. He pleaded with Immigration officials to receive more time to arrange his affairs before his deportation but his request was refused and he was promptly detained.
