Refugees will face drastic cuts to their health insurance on June 30th,  2012
Children will no longer be able to get their asthma medications
Diabetics will no longer be able to take their insulin
Many refugees will no longer have access to health  care

Join your colleagues in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg,  Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal and other cities

at a National Day of Action
June 18th,  at 12 pm - 1 pm
Vancouver location: The CIC building at 1148 Hornby St

Risking the lives of Canada’s most vulnerable is unacceptable to us.

Join the following in opposing these cuts:

College of Family Physicians of Canada
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Canadian Association of Optometrists
Canadian Association of Social Workers
Canadian Dental Association
Canadian Medical Association
Canadian Nurses Association
Canadian Pharmacists Association
Canadian Association of Community Health Centres

Although the perspective of front-line health care workers will be highlighted in this action, all are welcome to come and show their opposition to the cuts.

All health care workers should wear a lab coat or greens.

At this panel event and facilitated discussion we will hear from diverse First Nations voices about their perspectives on the 8th Fire and their thoughts on building more ethical and just relations between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples. Where do we go from here? Join us to deepen the conversation.

May 19 – March for Palestine Right of Return

On the 64th anniversary of the occupation of Palestine, and as the Palestinian people enter the 64th year of dispossession and exile, the Vancouver Coalition to Commemorate Al-Nakba is organizing 2 events to commemorate the Nakba, stand against the continuing Nakba, and call for the right of return for Palestinian refugees and freedom for Palestine. 64 years after the Nakba – the war of 1948 in which over 800,000 Palestinians  were driven from their homes and land and the state of Israel created on that land – Palestinians continue to struggle for their right to return, for freedom from occupation, for justice, and against the Nakba that continues today.

Gather at Clark Park (14th and Commercial) at 2 PM, March to Grandview
Park Rally at Grandview Park

March and rally commemorating the Nakba, standing against the continuing Nakba, calling for justice, freedom and return for Palestine! We will also stand against Canada’s complicity and its own genocide of indigenous people. Creative actions welcome! This is a family friendly march.
