Iranian refugee Ali Reza detained
NOII News Release, 7 January 2005
This morning Ali Reza Mozemi was called into CIC offices at 9 am, only to receive a deportation order for Tuesday Jan 11. When Ali attempted to request for more time from his enforcement officer, he was swiftly handcuffed and detained by officials, without even a goodbye from his family, who are all Canadian citizens and who may never see him before his deportation to Iran.
Ali was accompanied by his family, friends, and supporters in No One Is Illegal and Iranian Federation of Refugees, who swiftly responded at the injustice but were unable to prevent his detention. A hunger strike in front of CICÂ has began with the demand of his immediate release and the regularization of his status.
It is time to take a stand against Immigration Canada’s racist treatment of immigrants and refugees and to show tangible support for those resisting. Please stay in touch to receive updates.
