Mohamed Harkat condemned by a secret system of ‘justice’

Posted by admin on Dec 13th, 2010

By Matthew Behrens | December 13, 2010,

It was ironic that on International Human Rights Day, Dec. 10, family, friends, and supporters of secret trial detainee Mohamed Harkat gathered with him and his wife, Sophie, to weep and reflect on three federal court decisions against him. Norm Boxall, one of Harkat’s lawyers, said almost all of Noël’s findings were based on information that was kept secret, even from Harkat’s own lawyers, on national security grounds. “We will be doing everything we can to challenge this judgment,” he vowed.

Postmedia News, December 9, 2010

OTTAWA — Mohamed Harkat has been deemed a terrorist by a Federal Court judge and faces deportation to his native Algeria. Justice Simon Noel ruled that two cabinet ministers made a reasonable decision in February 2008 when they concluded Harkat poses a threat to national security.
